2010 Astral - IPE Youth Talent Contest
Due to last years overwhelming success and popularity, the I.P.E will be holding the 2010 - Astral IPE Youth Talent Competition at the Armstrong Interior Provincial Exhibition & Stampede's fair grounds on September 1st -5th . The popular event will be taking place every night on the Dodge Truck stage at 8:00pm - 10:00pm.
The primary objective of this event is to encourage young Canadians to develop and advance their performing arts talents. Also to provide the venue, organization, and opportunity for young Canadians to demonstrate their performing arts talent in a competitive environment that encourages participation, evaluation, and learning experience.
Application fees are $25.00 for single performers/duets or groups/bands (3 or more people) with a cap of 5 people per group.

The Astral IPE Youth Talent Competition will begin with an emcee introducing each act. There will be up to 20 acts each night, and the top 3 acts of each night will proceed to the final night. On Sunday the remaining 12 acts will perform in competition for the top prize: An all expenses paid trip to compete in the National Canadian Youth Talent Competition in Calgary, Alberta on November 19, 2010!
The 80 acts will receive a one day passes for the IPE. The 12 final acts on Sunday will receive another one day pass. All participants must be between 13 and 21 years of age.
The show each night will be 2 hours, having each performance not exceed 4 1/2 minutes. There will be an opportunity for photographs immediately after the performance.
Many of the acts who have competed at the national level have gone on to major success in the performing arts industry. Some examples of these are Michael Bublé - a popular singer among today's youth, country music's Paul Brandt, Canadian Idol finalist Jenny Gear, and many more!
The Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions initiated a program in 1989 that provided young Canadians with the opportunity to showcase their talents at the national level. Therefore, the first annual National Youth Talent Awards were held in February 1991 in Vancouver, BC.
The 2009 Finalist and over-all winner from the IPE was Lucy and the Lucky Four, who went on to compete in PEI, November 2009.
